Beginner-friendly? definitely, yes
I'd normally write some sort of catchy introductory hook here, but Glacier's music speaks for itself.
It speaks for itself in pretty much every way. The production is immaculate, the mixing is immaculate, the themeing is immaculate. "Temple Inward" is a fantastically well-rounded project in every sense of the word. It's the themeing that really tips it over the 90/100 edge, though, because, time and time again, Glacier has shown his aptitude in melding jungle-esque sound design with his electronic production, and "Temple Inward" sticks true to both of those sounds. The jungle themeing is apparent, always, in the sound design, with plucky instrumentation and airy leads, and it works spectacularly well with the crazy synthwork Glacier weaves in. Yes, this project does not lack cohesiveness, nor does it lack a phenomenal mix quality. What it also doesn't lack is the vocal—more specifically, the emotive aspect of the vocal, present in "Hang Limb" and, more prominently, "Ubi". "Temple Inward" establishes its 'temple' aspect quite quickly, but it looks 'inward' too, and Glacier's vocal lends quite heavily to that introspective aspect that allows the personality of the EP to shine through wholly.
There isn't anything quite like what Glacier is doing with his production. It's one thing to make a total bop of a record, and another to inject emotion into it, and quite another to frame it with a brilliantly natural atmosphere, and yet Glacier does it all as if it was the easiest thing in the world. If you want a temporary jump into a world of fantastical forest sprites and grounded human emotion, then "Temple Inward" is just the EP for you.
